The QuickFire activity combined this critical framework of the task of cutting vegetables with the element of surprise. The challenge? I had to navigate how to slice vegetables with a metal spatula, and not cut myself.
I’m sure you are probably wondering how this went. Well, I used my noodle. I used the plate as a “cutting
board” and the metal spatula as a “knife”. The bowl was mostly for scraps. As crazy as this sounds, it was kind of a recipe for success!
Reflecting, this allowed me to think about the TPACK framework and how it mixes into this exercise. During the activity, I had to change my thinking about what I would use. Koehler and Mishra's work explains how an individual can learn while experiencing a change in the learning process within a certain teaching method (p. 23). The QuickFire meant I had to create the ideal dish while I was thrown an unexpected element.

But how does this framework relate to the classroom? Inside every classroom is a recipe for success. The teacher can change the dynamic of the lesson just like altering a recipe. This change can give students a new learning experience where critical thinking is revealed. This was my experience where the concept of the TPACK framework met an activity that would change my perspectives on the recipe for success.
